1. What is pole dancing?
Pole dancing is a form of dance or performance art combined with gymnastics, in which a person utilizes a fixed vertical pole upon which to perform a variety of tricks and maneuvers. It is usually intended for entertainment of a crowd or one person but can also be a personal hobby.
2. Is pole dancing safe?
Pole dancing is surely safe when following the directions of a trained instructor and your own common sense. It is imperative that you listen to the messages of your own body such as, exhaustion or overextension, in order to avoid injury. Also, it is extremely important that you choose the correct class for your level of experience.
3. Is pole dancing hygienic?
Pole dancing is very hygienic. Each of the poles are carefully and completely cleaned after every class, and every student has the option of cleaning the pole whenever they choose. The studio endures an intense cleaning regimen from top to bottom weekly. We are confident you will find our studio thoroughly immaculate and sanitary.
4. What are the benefits of pole dancing?
Pole dancing will strengthen and tone all of the muscles in your body, reducing fat and flab. Pole dancing is also fun and will reduce levels of stress.
5. I want to try pole dancing, do I need to have prior dance experience?
There is no need to have any prior dance experience before coming to our studio. Our courses provide complete training from initiation to pole dancing accomplishment!
6. Do I need to have upper body strength?
In order to begin pole dancing classes you do not need to be already fit or have upper body strength. All of our classes are very carefully designed to get you started and help you shape up, lose weight, and gain strength as you progress through our program. Strengthening exercises are the foundation of our Levels 1-5 classes and you too can twirl on the pole!
7. Do I need to be flexible or be in shape to take pole dancing classes?
No. Our classes provide a solid and dependable structure for which to become flexible, strong, and in shape.
8. I am pregnant, should I participate in pole dancing?
Unfortunately pole dancing is not recommended for women that are pregnant. We kindly ask that childbearing women wait until after childbirth to begin pole dancing classes.
9. Is there an age limit for a pole dancer?
Women of all ages are welcome at our studio!! Parent/Guardian signature required for 18 and under.
10. How can I prepare for my first class?
First and foremost please do not apply lotions or oils before coming to a pole dancing lesson. Oils and lotions will make hands and legs slippery and unable to grip the pole, and therefore can be dangerous. Secondly, the most appropriate attire for pole dancing would be a pair of short shorts and a fitted tank top. This clothing will allow for a free range of movement and proper gripping of the pole with your legs and arms. Bottled water and high heeled shoes are an option but not a requirement. Both are available at the studio for purchase.

12. Can I organize a private party at the studio?
Absolutely! Upon prior reservation, our studio is available for special events and parties. Bring your friends and family over for your bachelorette party, birthday party, or whatever the occasion is.

14. Do you have a recommended diet that I should follow?
We do not ask that anyone follow a diet, but we do provide nutritional information if you are interested! If you would like to regulate your nutrition we recommend to everyone to consume less or no fast food, sodas, frozen food, junk food, or canned food. The most nutritional and healthy foods are fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes, and or proteins, that are without preservatives, and are prepared fresh at home, or at a local establishment. 16. Where can I park my car?
There is a parking lot on the NW corner of 9th and Washington Avenue and there is a public parking garage on 7th Street located just east of Washington Avenue. As always there is also street parking available.
17. How do I get to SoBe Pole Dance Studio?
If you are coming from the I95 freeway you can take the I395 freeway EAST bound. The I395 will merge into 5th Street and when you reach Washington Avenue make a left. The studio will be on your left hand side after 8th street.
